Bangkok 9-12 Jan 2014 (Day 1)

First overseas trip (apart from Malaysia) with my boyfriend to Bangkok!
This trip almost got cancelled because of the riot which happened in Bangkok. However since the shutdown took place only from 13th Jan onwards, we went ahead with our trip and glad that everything was smooth and alright! We enjoyed our trip a lot and we miss Bangkok soon after we were back in Singapore.

First day in Bangkok covers Asiatique mainly.

We took the limo service from the hotel upon reaching airport.
Checked in our room, settled down and went to the famous wanton mee place for our late lunch.

Collage of our hotel
 At Asiatique the Riverfront

And one at Brasserie 9 (Our dinner place at Asiatique)

At the airport!
My parents and sis sent us off early in the morning at 7+am

Had some time to spare so we walked around in the duty free area

Our first flight together :D

Via Airasia.
Coincidentally we took the same plane as Wilson, Benson's brother who's going to Bangkok for a week.
Chat a little and found him quite friendly

Reached DMK airport

The limo guy was already waiting for us and off we go to Glow, our hotel for the 4 days.
It wasn't my first time staying at Glow hotel but it was for B.
A pleasant stay for both of us in Bangkok :D

It was located opposite Platinum Mall and the nearest BTS was Siam or Ratchathewi.
We went to Siam most of the time because it was like a cross-platform interchange where we can travel to different lines. We went to Ratchathewi when we wanted to go to Chatuchak Market.

Nicely built hotel! So new and classy :)

Twin bed for us

The place we had lunch at, just outside into the lane of our hotel

The first mouth of mee wow me
Nice noodles they have!
Each of us had a bowl of normal wanton mee and we ordered another bowl of crabmeat wanton mee to share

We walked past Platinum Mall, did a quick shop where I managed to buy 3 tops and quickly walked to BTS to Asiatique because we wanted to catch the day time view before the sun set.
We also went to get datasim card at 7-11 so we can use data wherever we go if we need.

When we reached Saphan Taksin station, we walked to take a free boat ride to Asiatique.

Sunset, why you so beautiful!
And my boyfriend who takes very nice photos managed to take this picture which is really very nice!

Brasserie 9!
The fine french cuisine restaurant which we had our dinner.
B did some research and know that there are good reviews on the food here.
Lucky it did not disappoint us :D

Nice outside seats of the restaurant

We chose to sit inside with the aircon :)
Beautiful cosy place

The bread was served FOC

B's chicken stuffed with mushroom

And my BBQ duck
Both tastes nice and special

We ordered apple tart with macadamia nut icecream and it was so nice!

Night view of the riverfront
There were lots of people especially at night time where students and working adults knock off from work

Walked to Siam Paragon to get salted caramel cake from Greyhound on the way back to hotel.
This is the street outside Platinum mall where business tents are set up.
The previous time I was here, they did business on the floor.
We still managed to see the Christmas and New Year lighting decos when we were there.

This marks our day 1 :)

Monday 10 February 2014

Backstage and Ice Edge Cafe

Went to Ice Edge Cafe to try their waffles for the first time.
Lychee Martini and Belgium Chocolate which both taste very nice!
Ice Edge Cafe is located near Kovan MRT at Simon Road.

Crispy and tasty waffles

On our second visit, we ordered the mains as well. It was on a weekend so there's no 1-for-1 lunch promotion.

My vongole spaghetti

And B's grilled dory

Chocolate lava cake with Mao Shang Wang ice cream! Taste really good *slurps*

Also, SY and I went to Backstage cafe located a bus stop away from my workplace (Kallang Way) to try their mains

However, we were quite disappointed because we didnt get to try the dishes we saw from the menu online.
Will be back probably someday to try them out!
